Short-term weather, to drive tomorrow.

Anticipating a heating restart.

rdOpenWeather — At a glance
The problem it solves

Anticipating a heating restart or a load shed happens on a scale of hours; a daily average or yesterday's weather will not do, and driving on a forecast of unknown reliability means trusting without knowing.

The work it does for you

rdOpenWeather connects a SkySpark project to a commercial weather service and creates weather stations recognized by the built-in weather application. It serves the short term: current conditions and a forecast over a few days at a step of a few hours, with forecast quality tracked by lead time. It complements the range's deep-history source: both can serve the same site. It requires an access key to the service.

Benefits for you
  • A forecast at the step that control needs, not a daily average.
  • A service usable in a commercial context.
  • Forecast quality is measured, site by site.
  • Natively recognized stations.
  • The range's two weather sources coexist on one site.
Use cases
  • Anticipating a heating restart.
  • Preparing a load shed.
  • Feeding a short-term forecast.
  • Knowing which horizon to trust.
