Niagara modules

Consume an external API from a Niagara station.

Integrating an external data service (weather, tariffs, indices).

rdApiNetwork — At a glance
The problem it solves

Every third-party service — weather, tariffs, business application — needed its own custom connector, to be redeveloped and redeployed across the portfolio whenever the API changed.

The work it does for you

rdApiNetwork is a generic driver that lets a Niagara station read an external API's data and write values back to it, with no custom development. You describe the API and its points from Workbench; the station treats them like any others, along with the histories and schedules the API exposes. The driver automates the call and the shaping of data; it assumes a reachable, documented API.

Benefits for you
  • A generic driver instead of one connector per API.
  • An integration that outlives the provider: when the API changes, you edit a configuration, not a module.
  • Data arrives usable, shaped before it reaches the points.
  • A third-party service's outages, slowdowns and call limits are absorbed by the driver.
  • Writing too: a refusal from the remote service shows up in the station.
Use cases
  • Integrating an external data service (weather, tariffs, indices).
  • Linking an existing business tool without modifying it.
  • Driving a remote service from the station.
  • Taking over a history collected elsewhere.
